The proposed project called for drainage improvements associated with CBWCD Canal Nos. N-29, 30 and 30A. The improvements called for the extension and connection of the three (3) existing canals located within different zones of the CBWCD system. As the environmental consultant for CBWCD, and in conjunction with Craven Thompson and Associates, Inc. as the District Engineer, TCG provided a preliminary site assessment for the identification of jurisdictional wetlands, threatened and endangered species and threatened and endangered species habitat. Upon completion of the site assessment, TCG provided wetland delineation and permitting services through the Broward County Environmental Protection Department (EPGMD), South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE). Permitting services included a formal jurisdictional determination with each of the regulatory agencies, an avoidance and minimization analysis and the review of potential site plan alternatives. Upon completion of all environmental due diligence and assessment of potential site plan options, TCG provided formal permitting services for the site plan alternative that limited all potential wetland impacts by installing piping and culverts inlieu of the excavation of existing wetlands for various canal options.
