POMPANO BEACHFEST: NEW MUSICAL FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH COMING SOON

August 2, 2019, Point! Publishing – Starting next year, Pompano Beach will hold an annual two-day musical festival on the city’s main public beach, north of the pier up to about NE 5th Street. The festival will feature major headlining rock acts, but will also include artists from a variety of genres, Assistant City Manager Earl Bosworth told the City Commission last month. The Commission unanimously approved a five-year license agreement with Beachfest Entertainment, the promoter that will be organizing and hosting the event. The Chappell Group is processing the Coastal Construction Control Line (CCCL) permit and Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) sea turtle lighting permit through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). read more >

NEW SUPERYACHT VILLAGE AND MARINA TO DEBUT AT FLIBS 2019

April 3, 2019, Superyacht Times – This year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will see the unveiling of a brand new Superyacht Village at Pier 66 South. Already the largest in-water boat show in the world, this new dedicated marina and on-land exhibition space will expand FLIBS 2019 to over three million square feet and is the seventh site to be in use at the show. The announcement of the new site was made by the organisers, Informa U.S. Boat Shows, in cooperation with Tavistock Development Company and the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF). The show will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2019 and attracts more than 110,000 yachting and boating enthusiasts from 52 countries each year. ANCHOR CITY: FREE RIDE TO BOAT SQUATTERS TO END

March 28, 2019, Sun Sentinel – Four derelict boats mar the pretty view, turning the watery cove into a nautical junkyard. And when those four boats are hauled away, more will move in to take their place, critics say of the never-ending cycle that’s been going on for years at Broward’s North Beach Park. But there’s a pricey plan underway to protect the popular boating spot just east of the Intracoastal Waterway at A1A and Sheridan Street in Hollywood. A mooring field is in the works, where boaters would pay $40 a day to anchor and use new dinghy docks, restrooms and showers. F3 TO OPEN NEW AUTOMATIC DRY STACK

January 18, 2019, Marina Dock Age – F3 Marina will open its second automated drystack facility in Fort Lauderdale in Spring 2020. In November 2018, Founders 3 (F3), a commercial real estate company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, purchased the former SunDance Marine facility located on SE 16th Street for $7 million. The Chappell Group conducted the environmental permitting for through Broward County Environmental Protection & Growth Management Department, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the US Army Corps of Engineers to authorize the new facility. read more >

The Miami Yacht show has a new location and layout this year. The yacht show will be in the heart of downtown at MacArthur Causeway and Venetian Causeway from February 14 – 18, 2019. BRADFORD MARINE SOLD

The Triton – Fort Lauderdale Yacht Harbor (FLYH) has purchased one of Fort Lauderdale’s oldest shipyards, Fort Lauderdale-based Bradford Marine and Bradford Grand Bahama, for an undisclosed price. The Fort Lauderdale property closed on Jan. 1 but the closing for Bradford Grand Bahama awaits government approval. The Chappell Group will be handling the redesign and permitting for the project. –read more >

NEW, LARGER DOCKS OPEN AT LMC

The Triton – The first of about 35 new large yacht dock spaces are installed in the west dock area at Lauderdale Marine Center (LMC). The Fort Lauderdale shipyard and marina on the New River expects to complete the floating docks for yachts between 90 and 150 feet by the end of October. The Chappell Group conducted the environmental permitting for the project and is providing construction inspection services through the completion of the project. –read more >

POMPANO’S NEW PIER CONSTRUCTION REACHES HALFWAY MARK

Sun Sentinel – Pompano Beach’s 54-year-old pier is almost gone and its brand-new replacement is halfway complete, city officials say. The new pier is expected to be finished by the end of March, said Horacio Danovich, who oversees the city’s capital projects. Twenty-three of the pier’s 30 concrete spans have been completed. NEW LOGGERHEAD MARINA PROPERTY UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN DANIA BEACH

The Triton – Marina Development is underway in Dania Beach, Florida, for the new Loggerhead Marina Facility with 2,400 linear feet of dockage for yachts 100 to 250 feet in length. Edelman Development Corp. of Weston, Florida, began design and permit work about four years ago and partnered with Loggerhead at the end of last summer.
