The championship golf course, an original design by Joe Lee, was renovated in 2007 to mdernize the layout while maintaining the original course integrity and basic design principles.The Chappell Group teamed with Gene Bates Golf Design in the processing of the environmental permits for the updated course layout and surface water management system. The Chappell Group was tasked with the incorporation of wetland restoration within the overall course renovation. The wetland enhancement was designed entirely within the updated course layout, and consisted of historic hydric hammock wetland areas being restored to historic elevations and re-planted with desirable, native wetland species to match the natural community\u00a0of the original wetlands.
