The proposed project includes the excavation of a marina basin from existing uplands, dredging within the adjacent Dania Cutoff Canal (DCC) and the partial filling of existing jurisdictional\u00a0wetlands and surface waters onsite to\u00a0accommodate the proposed development\u00a0and onsite mitigation component.\u00a0Due to the presence of mangroves and\u00a0tidally influenced salt marsh wetlands\u00a0onsite, onsite mitigation is proposed in the\u00a0form of restoration and creation to match\u00a0the unique wetland communities found\u00a0onsite. A total of 3.13 acres of mangrove\u00a0mitigation is proposed, consisting of 2.21\u00a0acres of restoration and 0.93 acres of\u00a0creation. The mitigation will consist of a\u00a0mixed coastal system including mangroves,\u00a0salt marsh, coastal wet prairie and\u00a0hammock buffer designed through the\u00a0restoration of disturbed wetlands and\u00a0additional creation to result in a habitat that\u00a0is unique in Broward County.\u00a0The Chappell Group, Inc. serves as the\u00a0environmental consultant for the proposed\u00a0project and is responsible for all aspects\u00a0related to the environmental permitting,\u00a0design, and construction observation of the\u00a0proposed project.
